If you use headphones or earbuds to listen to music then how harmful is that to your hearing?

Please keep in mind that I do not listen to music at the extra loud levels that some do. I listen at what I would consider a very normal level.

It isn’t exactly harmful. If you do this for about 50 years you can probably encounter minor hearing loss if it at a normal level.

It is all about the amount of Decibles you subject your ears to. I reckon but am not completely sure about this but the DB level you can endure for an hour without damaging your eardrum is 80 db. You should take a break for about an hour after that to let the fluid that controls your hearing to reform itself.

A new report from the FCC/and HHS (Health and Human Services) recently blew IPOD out of the water. When people listen to their IPOD/MP3 way too loud (and you know if its loud) it can break off the small hairs inside the ear which are responsible for acting as sound filters. Recommended time with earbuds is no more than an hour a day. Probably more if you have the DB down.
