There is no doubt that the general levels of background noise that we are subjected to in any urban or commercial environment is within a range intrusive and uncomfortable and at times damaging to our auditory and general sensory systems. This results in stress, no matter what ability we have to screen out or ignore the general level of ambient noise in our environment.
Noise canceling products, channeled into the ear, by headphones, wired or wireless, actively reduce the level of ambient noise received by the ear – and usually combine with an overlay of something like pleasant music or sounds by way of peaceful distraction. While these units are all very well, in a relatively low key background environment, they meet a point of failure when intensive and irregular background noise intrudes into this peaceful haven. In other words, you can be lying in bed, just come off shift and ready to sleep, and place on your noise canceling headphones and as you casually drift off to sleep – yelp – the neighbor has chosen this moment to shout at the dog – and nearby someone is jack hammering concrete. Your only real option is to turn up the volume of overriding sounds – then you will wake yourself up anyway.
For serious escape from the tyranny of noise, which not honestly minor and regular, you probably need to look at the range of noise isolating units. But for most purposes, when traveling, walking or driving in your car and you don’t need to really sleep – you will find that something like an HP Bluetooth headphone is sufficient for your needs. In fact the HP Bluetooth is highly regarded for most of the reasons that you will be considering when deciding to buy a noise canceling headphone – such as being very comfortable to wear for long periods, as when traveling in an airplane, and an ability to transfer from wireless mode to twin cords if the batteries get low. Noise canceling headphones in fact permit quite a high level of interactive noise, if that noise is randomly intrusive, a result pleasant but not entirely effective if you really need to tune out and get some serious sleep. The focus of noise canceling products is more towards providing a pleasant cushion of sound than to block background noise completely, and there are many products regards quality and price to examine and compare.isolating units.

Noise cancelling headphones are exactly what their name suggests. Originally made for flyers and first introduced by Bose, these headphones are made to reduce constant noise and are a delight for our ears if you regularly travel. Of course they will perfectly help you too in any other noisy conditions. Let’s take the example of the Bose QuietComfort 15.
Noise Cancelling is a concept made more than 20 years ago and Bose were the first to make headphones equiped with this technology. If Bose is a pioneer in the industry, many other have followed their tracks. The QuietComfort 15 is the latest product of this type nd equiped with this awesome technology. After 20 years of improvement the Bose noise redution is better thn ever headphones.
How it works ?
There are both microphones on the inside and outside of the earcups. The outside noise polarity is inverted and added back to the audio signal. You don’t have to raise the volume to cover the noise, because an antinoise was generated.
The Bose QuietComfort 15 also had the cushion redesigned with new materials to reduce noise even more, but it also provides an ergonomic and comfortable ear fit.
Plus, it is also equiped with an active equalization. This ensures you get an optimal acoustic experience with a high audio performance. Bose likes to do the things right and provides the QuietComfort 15 with few accessories, such as the detachable audio cable, that means you could even wear the headphones just to reduce noise and not listen to music if you want !
In small, the Bose QuietComfort 15 is a no brainer for regular flyers and anyone working or living in noisy condition. Its comfortable design allows you to wear it during hours and still delight in the music you’re listening or movies you’re watching. A must have.

You wouldn’t take your sports car off-roading, neither would you race your pickup truck around an oval against NASCAR drivers. It’s a no brainer…you use the right equipment for the right job.
For recreational audio enjoyment (like listening to music or chatting on your cell phone with friends), there are several different kinds of head phones you can choose from, but just a few that will do the job you want them to do. We’ll look at some of the more common uses for headphones and give some suggestions as to which headphone might be the right one for you.
When you are simply hanging out and relaxing – on your own or with friends – a regular set of headphones is probably appropriate: by regular, we mean ones that are commonly found in music or electronic stores and are honestly affordable. Often these are in the earbud style, which means they are small speakers that fit into your ear and connect with a cord that either goes over your head in a headband or (more commonly today) are connected under your chin at your neck to your ipod. These are appropriate for casual use because they don’t block out outside sound so that if your friends choose to go to the mall, you won’t be left bopping to the music because you can’t hear them. These are also excellent if you are out on a bike ride, for example, and want to be able to hear the traffic noise but still delight in music. These same earphones can be appropriate, with a microphone, for your cell phone.
Audiophiles (which is a phrase derived from Greek to mean lovers of sound) are people with a real passion for music. If that describes you, it probably means that you have a serious sound system at home. You will want headphones that perhaps have their own amplifier and you will certainly want noise canceling headphones. Noise canceling headphones are usually closed back headphones with padding around the side and fit over the entire ear. They use special circuitry and electronics, as well as insulation, to block out exterior noise. Obviously these kind of headphones are only appropriate in a music theatre style of home entertain systems. They’re also excellent if you want to watch a go but have to keep the sound down because other people want it silent in the house.
Video gaming is increasing in popularity as computer games and game systems compete for you to race or fight villains or play sports on the screen. Headphones are fantastic for this because it not only keeps the game from disturbing those around you, it also allows you to hear elements of the game that could be lost because of background noises or the way your room deadens that sound. (One example is in first person shooter games, where headphones might allow you to hear footsteps coming up behind you).
Remember that your enjoyment of sound is best kept turned slightly down. Don’t turn the music up all the way as permanent hearing loss can result from listening to music too loudly.

If you have been bothered by outside noise while listening to your audio player, then you may want to try noise cancelling headphones. Environmental noise can be very annoying when you are trying to listen to your favourite song on a bus or a train. At home there can be the sound of kids or even the neighbour mowing his lawn! You shouldn’t have to have the volume at such a level where it will drown out the noise as this may also hurt your ears.
Noise Cancellation Headphones will cancel out most of those annoying those background sounds
Noise cancellation is a honestly recent invention made to shut out background noise while allowing you to listen to music at low volume with no distractions. You can now find the silent you’ve been looking for.
There are generally two types of noise cancelling headphones. One is Active and the other is Passive.
Pretty much any type of headphones offer some type noise reduction. The materials they are made of help to block out some of the outside noise.
The best type of headphones for passive noise reduction are the circum-aural variety as they are constructed to maximize noise filtering. They are made up of layers of high density foam (or another similar material) which makes them heavier than normal headphones. But they can reduce noise by around 15 to 20 decibels.
A better option for noise cancelling would be the Active variety. They work by cancelling out lower frequency sound waves. A small microphone placed inside the ear cup listens to sounds from the outside world and a circuit inside the headphones makes a sound wave which is 180 degrees out of phase with the incoming noise. This ‘anti sound’ is fed into the headphone speakers with the normal audio. The anti-sound erases the noise but does not affect the normal audio sound waves. The power required to do this requires the use of a rechargeable battery inside the noise cancelling headphones.
Active noise cancelling headphones can block out around 70 percent of ambient noise.
Make sure you read reviews when looking to buy noise cancelling headphones. brands have very small battery life and don’t really reduce very much unwanted noise at all. Higher priced models don’t necessarily mean you get better quality noise cancellation properties either.
Some people say that noise cancelling headphones compromise sound quality by muffling the sounds. They can also take a while to get used to as the user can experience a change in air pressure although the air is supposed to be vented through ports in the ear cups.
After trying active noise cancelling audiophile headphones the right audiophile will never go back to standard audio headphones. They can even help alleviate fatigue when travelling which can occur when you are exposed to low frequency noise for an extended period.
You can even use them when you are not listening to music. Just place them on and enjoying the peace and silent.
A small bit of silent can be music to anyone’s ears!

Bose was the first company to actively start marketing the noise cancelling headphones to travelers. Weather it be to people who traveled on a plane to get to their destination or those that use the subway or bus for their daily commute. There are many people willing to pay for a pair of headphones that would dramatically reduce noise without having to turn up the volume. Bose had an answer for the problem with the QuietComfort brand of headphones.
Bose largest seller was the QC 2. Many reviewers praised it for the features it offered. But with the next version Bose made a huge mistake by releasing a pair of headphones that were even more expensive with less features. One of the largest problems was the shrinking of the earcups which reduced their ability to block noise. The new QC15 is going by the motto “back to what works”.
The newest headphone released by Bose is basically a remake of the QC2. The QC15 is the same color as previous versions, black and silver. They also have the around the ear headphones with soft foam padding. One triple A battery powers the headset that will last for around 35 hours. It also includes a 5 foot audio cable, a carrying case, and a pair of two prong airline adapters.
As stated before nothing has really changed from the QC2 version of the headphones. That means that the Bose QC headphones are really nice but they in no way stand out enough to make them worth the asking price of 0 bucks. There are other less expensive brands out there that will down right compete if not knock Bose out the race in noise cancellation and sound department. If you are willing to pay the price for a nice pair of headphones that remain comfortable and simple to wear regardless of the size of your head, then you might just want to consider the QuietComfort.
