Bose SoundDock Portable is our second Bose SoundDock as we also owned the original. I’ve also owned about three Bose Wave Radios (now Wave Music System)and noise canceling headphones. So, to say I’m a Bose fan is putting it mildly.
Sure, you pay through the nose, but my experience is that Bose delivers quality and stands by its products. We bought the SD Portable because we’re living in a small flat in London. It’s the perfect solution. Few wires, self-contained, small, yet it delivers a huge quality sound that fills our living room. We are also limited on wall outlets here and with the fantastic battery life from the rechargeable battery, I can take it anywhere around the flat.
Some knock Bose for their prices and refusal to tell sound specs. Hey, I just listen to my music and find that it enables me to really delight in that music where other systems might get in the way. If it doesn’t deliver the best sound for its size, it’s nearly the best.
The one problem I experienced is that with my new iPod Classic 80GB, the playlist up and down buttons on the remote don’t work. Bose told me they can’t keep up with every iPod model and that software updates to the iPod might fix that, but no guarantees. This is not a fatal flaw, but a bit of an annoyance.
Otherwise, this is a fantastic product and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bose SoundDock Portable, especially if you’re interested in fantastic sound in an effecient and small box.

For anyone wanting to delight in their portable DVD player outside of the privacy and solitude of their own room, headphones are a critical accessory. They allow the viewer to listen to movies and music without disturbing those nearby and often act to reduce environmental noise which can intrude on the audio experience. Both comfort and audio quality are vital considerations when selecting earphones.
• For those who will be using their portable DVD player to entertain two viewers at a time it is vital to assure that the device has 2 headphone ports on it; otherwise a splitter (Y-plug) will be needed.
• Various styles of headphones offer different advantages.
For anyone wanting small, inconspicuous devices any style of in-the-ear headphones can be a excellent choice. They are often the headphone of choice during activity, but in the case of use with a portable DVD player this is generally not a concern unless it is used for listening to music. Ear bud style headphones are often less comfortable and offer lower quality sound than in-the-canal type headphones. On the other hand, in-the-canal headphones generally require more frequent cleaning. Both require a excellent fit to offer the best quality sound.
Around-the-ear headphones with earcups can be quite secure and reduce the intrusion of outside sound without consuming additional battery power although they tend to be a bit more noticeable to the wearer than in-the-ear models.
Over the ear headphones help reduce the risk of hearing loss as the signal from in- the-ear devices is amplified by several dB. For comfort, padding over the earpieces and an adjustable headband is recommended. Some users feel that sound quality with over the ear headphones is superior and helps to reduce noise escaping which can disturb others. Some models even offer behind the neck or headband-less styles for added comfort which allows users to don a hat and avoid disturbing their hair. These types of headphones tend to be lighter but also more fragile.
Wireless headphones free the user from wires but have the drawback of using a fantastic deal of battery power in conjunction with a portable DVD player which already consumes a fantastic deal of energy. With wireless headphones, users are also given freedom to go about when listening to music via their player.
Noise canceling headphones are effective at eliminating environmental noise by making an out-of-phase signal to cancel unwanted outside noise. As this is not a passive process, additional battery power is consumed to achieve this effect.
• A final, but vital consideration in selecting headphones for a portable DVD player is to assure that it is compatible with the device. The cord on the earphones must obviously be capable of connecting to the player or an adapter will be needed, adding more weight and bulk where it is not wanted.

The invention of portable electronics has indeed made the world much smaller today. But, prior to the 1947 invention of the transistor, portable electronics were a distant reality. While people longed to take radios on trips, the large vacuum tubes for sound amplification made it impossible. The transistor brought about a fantastic revolution within the electronic components industry. Its tiny size, reliability, and durability enabled manufacturers to shrink the size of electronics and thereby make really portable electronics. The appeal of portable electronics escalated since their introduction in the 1950s. Today, music lovers cannot live without their iPods, DVD players, and FM radios. DVD players:Among the portable music players, DVD players, though not as hot as they once were, are still extremely well loved as a fantastic portable electronics product. Small and compact, they pack a lot of features as a carry on. All it requires is popping in your favorite DVD hook in your headphones, press play and delight in. Whether you are traveling on a professional tour or vacation, portable DVD players can offer the perfect quality sound and picture. CD players:CD players too like DVD players are hot favorites especially as an integral car accessory. Apart from that, there are CD players to satisfy consumers from all walks of life. There are portable CD players, CD players for kids, and Dj CD players from different brands. Whichever brand you buy, always remember that an ideal CD player should have top loading, shock proof memory, and an LCD show. The best part of this portable electronics product is that it usually has an option to ‘Add to my mix’ to select songs and add in a separate directory. The sales package in most brands comes with a carrying case and a headset cord extension (helps while connecting to PC). So, CD players are a must for those of you, for whom listening to music is religion. I-Pod:I-Pod, introduced initially in 2001 by Apple was like any MP3 player but with an incredible storage capacity of 5 gigabytes. But today, after about 7 years, it plays songs, movies, games and photo slideshows, and can store up to 160 GB of any type of file. The I-Pod line has been upgraded many times since its invention, and each significant revision is called a ‘generation’. Only the most recent generation and refurbished units of previous generations of the I-Pod line are available from Apple for each model (Classic, Nano, Shuffle, and Touch). Each new generation usually has more features and refinements while typically being physically smaller and lighter than its predecessor. If you are plotting to buy any of these then just go ahead wear it as a badge of your musical devotion.
